Breadboard Layout

Figure 1 shows a close-up view of one end of the XBoard, with the LCD removed.

A. Microcontroller

  • Pin 1 goes in hole C7.

B. Oscilllator

  • Pins go in holes D28, D29, and D30.
  • Text on oscillator facing forward.
  • Yellow wire connects hole A29 to ground.
  • White wire connects hole A19 to hole A28.
  • Brown wire connects hole B20 to hole B30.

C. Capacitor

  • Capacitor pins go in holes B17 and B18.
  • Yellow wire connects hole A18 to ground.
  • Orange wire connects hole A17 to power.

D. USB Programming Board

  • Headers go in holes E1 to E5 and F1 to F5.
  • Resistor connects hole A5 to power.
  • Red wire connects hole B7 to hole B5.
  • Yellow wire connects hole A3 to ground.
  • Red wire connects hole I1 to hole I21.
  • Red wire connects hole H2 to hole H22.

E. Power to Microcontroller

  • Yellow wire connects hole J15 to power.
  • Orange wire connects hole J16 to ground.

F. LCD Wires

  • Orange wire connects hole J24 to J27.
  • Orange wire connects hole J28 to ground.
  • Orange wire connects hole J30 to ground.
  • Yellow wire connects hole J29 to power.
